Protected Disclosure International

“Providing a Safe Alternative to Silence.”

We Minimise the Risk to Organisations and Employees Through the Effective Management of Employee Disclosures.

“The costs of a missed opportunity can be great: fines, compensation, higher insurance premiums, regulatory investigations, lost jobs, lost profits and even lost lives.” British Standards Institute.

Protected Disclosure International provides a suite of services to organisations who wish to create and maintain a supportive environment within which their employees can raise issues of concern in an appropriate and effective way.  We work with organisations in the private and public sector who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics and accountability.

Protected Disclosure International provides a framework of supports to encourage employees to speak up when they experience wrongdoing or anything of concern. These may relate to:

  • fraud, misuse or waste of company funds or other resources
  • unsafe working practices or failure of the company to fulfill it’s duty of care
  • circumstances where the health and welfare of employees or the public are at risk
  • behaviour that is inconsistent with company ethics and values
  • any acts or omissions that may place the organisation at reputational risk.

If an employee reports a workplace concern in good faith it should be treated by their employer as a “protected disclosure”. This means that an employee should not be subjected to detrimental treatment or penalisation in relation to any aspect of their employment as a result of reporting their genuine concerns.

Every organisation needs to ensure that:

  • employees are comfortable in coming forward with their concerns
  • there are effective internal and external channels through which employees can express their concerns, either to their manager or to another trusted person;
  • line managers are capable of handling disclosures effectively
  • employees who report concerns in good faith are appropriately protected

Organisations need to demonstrate that the governance, culture and practices they have in place are robust and deliver confidence in Senior Management and its Board. Protected Disclosure International can work with you to develop effective responses to these important issues.

“…one in four employees are aware of misconduct at work, however more than half of those stay silent.” Institute of Business Ethics

In the workplace silence is definitely not always golden!
